Roots of Persimmon

A persimmon branch, borne from bitter roots, bearing the sweet fruit of a compassionate life, cut and grafted onto an astringent tree not yet at full maturity. Sweetness begetting sweetness. I am always aiming to bear and share sweet fruit.

“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy.”
-Marcus Aurelius

I am a lifestyle photographer passionate about photographing sincere and emotive human connection and have been photographing love stories for fifteen years.

My devotion to experiencing and documenting raw and meaningful connection drives me to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere for my clients to let their love flow over every moment. Using natural light, gentle posing, and organic movement, I strive to cultivate a genuine experience true to you and your unique story.

When life has a way of feeling too fast, like too much to hold onto and you can feel the sands of time slipping between your fingers, a moment carved out for intentional slowness is a weary soul’s reprieve that every human deserves.

Life is meant to be experienced in all of its nuance and savoring the playful, soft moments that elicit that real-time, existential nostalgia as they happen is an intrinsic part of the human experience. Why not have those moments on film?

the art and the artist

Amanda Ekeren

I genuinely cherish every session, every client, and every photograph I take. Every opportunity to meet and work with familiar and new spirits in this line of work is balm for my heart and lights the passion for human connection, art, and love that is so innate within me.

Some things I love:

  • Trippy, sci-fi horror novels

  • Le Labo Thé Noir 29

  • Cozy Nintendo Switch games

  • Indian takeout

  • Moody girl musings in my Notes app

  • Therapy

  • Taking care of all of my plant children and giving them names and personalities

  • Pen & paper planning

  • Rose tea & black coffee

  • Obsessing over skincare

  • Annoying my tattoo artist with my 8 thousand tattoo ideas

  • Braiding my man’s hair and watching him play horror games because I would high key have a panic attack if I played them myself.

  • Yoga & Pranayama Practice
